What's a Cane Corso actually like?

The Cane Corso is one of Italy's oldest working breeds — originally bred to guard farms, hunt boar and protect the family. Today they're one of the most loyal, intelligent and physically capable dogs you can own. They're not aggressive by nature but they are seriously protective, which is exactly why early socialisation and confident handling matter so much.

Adult size: 60–70 cm tall, 40–55 kg. Lifespan: 10–12 years. Coat: short, easy to groom, sheds moderately. Energy: medium-high — needs 1.5 hours of structured exercise plus mental work daily. Trainability: highly intelligent but strong-willed — needs an owner who can lead without bullying. Climate: handles Indian heat better than most large breeds but still needs shade and water.
